CASE HISTORY

Lady Gaga has arrived to the hospital very tired. She looks exhausted. She has been training in the gym this morning before the rehearsal of her tour. After the gym, she felt as if she couldn't breath and she is very worried. She's listening doctors around her talking many technical words but she's curious and wants to understand as much as she can.

Your supervisor asks you to write a detailed report for her, using technical language together with its "real world" translation.

YOUR ASSIGNMENTS

• Work in teams to create an infographic and a report. 

​

• Content and delivery of the infographic (100XP):

✓ Hand your infographic on an A3 sheet. You can draw it or use the collage technique to build it.

✓ The infographic should include the name and functions of the parts of respiratory system, including a zoom with details of lungs and alveoli. 

✓ Briefly and clearly explain where an how gas exchange occurs.

✓ Write at the back the TC_rubrics for task solving.

• Content and delivery of the report (250XP):

                 ✓Create your report as a Word document.  Font should be Verdana 13.

✓ PAGE 1. COVER: Case name and full name of all group components (10XP)

✓ PAGE 2. Index (10 XP)

✓ PAGE 3. Briefly and clearly explain the difference from breathing versus respiration and between aerobic and anaerobic respiration. You can add a chart to resume all differences. (50 XP)

✓ PAGE 4. Lady Gaga is very curious and wants to understand how and where gas exchange occurs. She's heard something about capillaries and diffusion. Explain it with the appropriate words to help her understand (you can include drawings) (50 XP)

✓ PAGE 5. Two years ago, Lady Gaga fell down from the stage and broke her floating ribs. She was operated and now she doesn't have them. Explain the ventilation process and if that surgery could be the cause of present problem (50 XP)

✓ PAGE 6. SMOKING. Lady Gaga is trying to give up smoking. Explain her the chemicals a cigarette contains and its effects. What chemical is responsible for smoking addiction?. Explain her about at least 5 consequences of smoking and include links to 1 or 2 websites of reference. Also show her some images of damaged lungs (this will definitively work) (50 XP)
